The Mechanical Engineering program leading to the bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B. Tech.) is having a structured curriculum that prepares students for a broad range of career choices in the different areas of Engineering. The Course is intended for students whose career objectives require greater flexibility. Mechanical Engineering deals with material selection, design and production of tools, machines, and all other Mechanical equipment to be used in industries. Our Department prepares the students who are the driving forces behind many of our technologies and industrial processes including innovative products.
The Mechanical Engineering Department has been accredited with institute level accreditation program by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B+ grade.
Our Departmental faculties are specialized in areas like Thermal Engineering, Design, Materials and Manufacturing & CAD/CAM etc. Our Students have been recruited in many reputed organizations.
The B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering is a comprehensive degree program. The goal of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum is to create a versatile undergraduate student with educational experience in design, mathematics, modeling, computing, management, Engineering science, humanities, social sciences and fine arts. The Principal topics of study include Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer, Solid Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing, Energy Systems, Theory of Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Quality Control, CAD/CAM and others. This broad and flexible program with number of elective subjects and NPTEL courses allow students to customize their programs to meet their objectives and particular career goals.
The M. Tech. with specialization of Mechanical Engineering is having a structured curriculum set by DBATU. It has advanced subjects of Design, Thermal as well Manufacturing, etc. Advanced Practical Laboratory and test set-ups are also offered works to the students with main focus on research.
Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA)
It is the forum for students to develop their professional skills. MESA is among the most active student bodies in the institute. Every Mechanical Engineering student beginning with the second year in the program at YTC is a member of MESA. Mentored by experienced faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering department, students take upon many initiatives that prepare them to face the challenges of the future. Last year programs like Savitribai Phule Jayanti, Technical training, CAD event conducted under this forum.
The department has various Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with eminent industries. These connections serve to benefit students in the form of good placements, industrial visits, well-equipped laboratories and industrial exposure. The participation of industrial visits in curriculum designing has helped the department to keep pace with fast-changing industrial needs. The department also benefits from the visiting professors which highly experienced senior executives deliver lectures to staff and students.
Mechanical Engineers have a broad spectrum of opportunities in Industrial giants in the field of Energy, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Steel, Automotive, Robotics and Information Technologies. Many IT industries also have CAD/CIM divisions, which increases the job potential of Mechanical engineers in IT industries too. The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the year of 2011. The department conducts Undergraduate and Post-Graduate programs in Mechanical Engineering at present (i) B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (Intake: 30) (ii) M. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (Intake :12), which are affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (DBATU), Lonere, Dist.: Raigad. Our graduate and post-graduate students are highly sought by high-tech companies, prestigious universities. We are fortunate to be the center of choice for most of the students in this region. We have well qualified and dedicated staff and are known for its high academic standard, well-maintained, disciplined with complete infrastructure facilities. The dedication and hard work of the staff members have yielded fruitful results. The department has a student’s organization namely Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association (MESA), under which various events are conducted by students for the students. The department organizes various industrial visits, seminars and workshops for students. The Mechanical Engineering department rigorously follows the Outcome Based Education in their teaching-learning process. The use of NPTEL/QEEE videos for the students helps in improving the understandability of the students in the different subjects. Students are provided with an appropriate platform for their overall development in sports, cultural, curricular, technical activities. There are 10 laboratories in the department. A separate CAD/CAM/CAE laboratory has been developed with various advanced software packages such as CATIA, ANSYS, AutoCAD, MATLAB etc. The Department also has a well-equipped Mechanical Workshop for carrying out the practical training in Smithy, Carpentry, Welding, Fitting and Machining.
I am pleased to share that many of our students are consistently excelling through the Campus Placement activities sand getting placed in highly reputed companies. The department has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with many industries offering opportunities to the students to work on live industry projects. We are committed to a complete and holistic development of students and to impart them a bright future.

The department has well equipped classrooms and laboratories to conduct lectures and practical sessions. The department also has air conditioned seminar hall with LCD projector and sitting capacity of more than 100 attendees. The mechanical workshop has students’ training facilities for welding, Fitting, carpentry, Machining, sheet metal operations. Students are gets the actual work experience of industrial process in workshop. In CAD/CAM lab students gets hands on practical on various software.
